Meet the Staff
Mr. Yeagley, Principal
Jayson Yeagley has been in education for 17 years. Mr. Yeagley spent the first ten years in education as an English teacher in Florida (Palm Bay High School) and Columbiana High School. Mr. Yeagley was also the Asst. Principal of Beaver Local High School for four years. Mr. Yeagley currently works for Mahoning County Educational Service Center (MCESC). He is an Instructional Supervisor in the Teaching and Learning department headed by Kim Davis. He heads up the Technology Integration Team; He is also the Account Admin for over 30 local school districts with Fuel Education curriculum. Mr. Yeagley is an United States Air Force Veteran and graduated from Kent State University and attended Ashland University for grad school. Mr. Yeagley and his wife have three kids (two in middle school and one in elementary) and two mini Golden Doodles.
Mr. Yeagley is excited about his new role as MUC's Principal and has lots of plans to improve the school.
Ms. Pavalko, School Counselor
Sue Pavalko has been in education for 11 years. Her first five years were at Youngstown Community School as a K-6 Intervention Specialist. In 2013, she was hired to work for the Mahoning County Educational Service Center in the PACE program, where she was an Intervention Specialist for three years. Two years ago, Ms. Pavalko joined the Mahoning Unlimited Classroom team as an Intervention Specialist. This is her first year in her new position as School Counselor with MUC. Ms. Pavalko graduated with her Bachelor of Arts and Masters in Education degrees from Youngstown State University. She has lived in the Youngstown area her entire life. She has one daughter, who is in elementary school.
Ms. Pavalko is excited to begin her new role as School Counselor at MUC. She looks forward to working with students in this new capacity.
Mrs. Whitaker, Curriculum and Training
Mrs. Lisa Whitaker has been an educator for 17 years. She joined the Mahoning Unlimited Classroom team in 2006; after teaching technology, gifted education, and Title I reading at St. Paul School in Salem. Lisa manages MUC's online curriculum and assists students and parents in understanding how to navigate our online learning system. She is also our gifted intervention specialist. Lisa earned her Bachelor's Degree from Grove City College and her Master's Degree from Youngstown State University.
She and her husband have a son who is in middle school.
Mrs. Schiavello, DASL SecretaryDarlene Schiavello has been a secretary for the Mahoning Unlimited Classroom since 2005. Prior to coming to MCESC, she was a secretary for the IBM Corporation followed by 16 years with the Poland School District as secretary of Special Services.Mrs. Schiavello and her husband have three daughters, eight grandchildren, and two goldendoodles.
Ms. Berkowicz, Data Secretary
Nicole has been with the Unlimited Classroom since 2016 with the focus on attendance. In the past, she worked for local attorneys. Nicole earned her Psychology/Criminal Justice Bachelor's of Science Degree from Northern Arizona University.Nicole has 2 sons and 1 daughter.
Mrs. Christy, Intervention Specialist
Mrs. Gina Christy is very excited to be starting her new position for the 2018-19 school year as an intervention specialist for Mahoning Unlimited Classroom She has been teaching for 15 years. She received her undergrad from Youngstown State University and her Master’s Degree from Kent State University in early childhood education. She taught kindergarten for two years and then preschool for six years. Mrs. Christy then taught at Buckeye Online School in East Liverpool, Ohio as an intervention specialist for four and a half years and obtained her master’s degree in K-12 special education.
Mrs. Christy and her husband have two children. Her son, Devin is 10 and is going into 5th grade and her daughter, Delaney is 13 and is going into 8th grade.
Mrs. Cartwright, ELA Teacher
Mrs. Alice Cartwright is thrilled to be returning to Mahoning Unlimited Classroom after completing her first year with us. She has been teaching for 12 years. She received her undergraduate degree from Westminster College and her Master’s in Literacy was completed at Youngstown State University. Her teaching experience includes years of teaching at Ohio Virtual Academy, Brookfield after school program through Youngstown State University, Stambaugh Academy in Youngstown, and various literacy graduate courses at Youngstown State University.
Mrs. Cartwright lives in Poland with her husband, two sons, and daughter. Her children are all in college. She has two cats and a dog.
Mr. Palmer, Technology
Michael Palmer began his career with MCESC in the winter of 2017. Prior to his employment at MCESC, Michael worked as a Systems Administrator for Roth a Sodexo company, where he oversaw servers as well as managed and maintained the telecommunications system. Michael obtained his Bachelor of Science in Technology Degree from Youngstown State University in 2012 and is currently a VMware Certified Professional in Data Center Virtualization.
